Single Tree Mountain - In the heart of Sri Lanka

Sri LAnka 3

Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is known for the production and export of tea, coffee, rubber and coconuts. The island is a popular tourist destination due to its scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage (for example Ayurveda, a traditional healing art).
The Single Tree Mountain is located in the heart of Sri Lanka and overlooks Lake Gregory and the small town of Nuwara Eliya. This mountain is to be accessed from two sides and thus connect the Nanu Oya train station and the city. With this development, the brisk traffic that is still leading over the mountain is to be reduced and at the same time an additional tourist offer is created directly on the mountain.

One of the challenges in development is the weather conditions in the region. Because of the 163 rainy days a year and large amounts of precipitation, special care was taken when integrating and developing the offers to integrate rain-protected areas and also to create sufficient indoor space. There is also a temple complex in the hilly tea plantations, which was incorporated into the concept. The three cable car stations are each designed to suit their location and equipped with the associated tourist infrastructure.
